Waterstep 2019We had an exceptionally good year for collecting shoes that went to WaterStep. Derek Howard, Director of the Shoe Program, estimated we had donated approximately 3,000 pounds of shoes! WaterStep will sell these shoes to a buyer. The proceeds are used to make, deliver, and install chlorinator systems to villages all over the world which provide clean, safe drinking water. The buyer also distributes the collected shoes to persons who clean and repair them to be re-sold as a means of income. This creates a double blessing to people in need. These little acts of generosity will have a powerful impact on people’s lives in other parts of the world. Boys and girls, men and women will benefit by receiving clean and purified water to drink. Lives will be saved. A cup of clean water will be given to many. This is something that the One who spoke of “Living Water” certainly supports being done in His name.
Thank you to all who donated shoes and collected shoes this year. The Brethren Retirement Community had a very successful collection. We also thank the Greenville First United Methodist Church, The Ansonia United Methodist Church, Greenville Federal, The Boys & Girls Club, and the Darke County Right To Life organization who donated many shoes that did not sell in their annual garage sale. At this time, we are looking to do another shoe drive next year, so start saving your shoes! |
